My future

Twenty years later, what will I do in the future? If I always practice playing a baseball, will I become a famous baseball player like Ichiro? It is impossible, I know. The aim is too high. I am 40 years old after twenty years. Maybe I will work without a break at that time. Perhaps, I may be drafted by the CIA for saving the world. From now, let’s design my future twenty years later as this in an opportunity.

Will I have my family and where will I live twenty years later? Of course, I will have. Also, I will have a son and daughter. Children will be two people because I will not get paid much or times may be tough in the business. Where will I live? I will not guess because I want to live in America, but I like living in Japan. Of course, I have to get the green card in order to become an American people. I will decide where to live in time, however. This is a plan of my relationships and where I will want to live in. It’s not completely normal a little. At the end of the day, I absolutely want the good and beautiful wife.

What kind of job will I get? I totally want to be an English teacher or I will maybe teach students something as a professor. For example, the major will be linguistics or applied linguistics or TESOL. It must be the thing where I teach something. In addition, I will do research at that time. These things are hard to become successful 20 years later. I do my best!

I have a project I want to try twenty years later. The project is to teach people who want to escape poverty English. Twenty years later from now, I go to Africa or Venezuela or Middle East, and I intend to assemble brilliant English teachers and I am a reader of the project. This is “ENGLSIH GAKKO PROJECT”. So I will be busy in the future.

I don’t know what is going to happen in the future, but I intend to study English forever. If any I lose my legs or hands by an accident, I will teach English with online. English is a business and tool. Good luck!

A place I’d like to visit

A place I’d like to visit is the United Kingdom, because the UK has many famous places and traditional things. Also, UK has a long history of English. Moreover, UK is one of the most popular countries in the world. I know many people visit the UK for traveling because there are many attractive things. Let us talk about UK.

UK has many famous places. For example, there’s Buckingham Palace, the Tower Bridge, the British Museum, Tower of London, Canterbury Cathedral, and Stonehenge and so on. These things are known by many people. Japanese know these. I think that UK has more famous things or building or sightseeing spots than Japan. UK is both fascinating and exciting from young people to seniors. The traditional style of UK is different as compared to Japan.

Let us consider differences of traditional style as compared to Japan. First, it’s “foods”. UK people seldom eat rice like Japanese, and tastes are different. So food flavor is important for Japanese and Japanese foods are more delicious than foods of UK. Second, its religions. Japanese does not have any religion, but UK has the Christian religion. I can’t understand professing God or Crist. We can find some differences as compared to Japan.

Do you know UK well? UK is made up of 4 parts. It’s “North Britain” and “Ireland” and “Wales” and “England”. As I recall North Britain is going to go independent from UK. This problem is too complicated. The reason is a religion problem. The religion of UK is Catholicism and North Britain is Protestant. This difference is mainly a trigger for independent. UK has some problems so we have to learn their history.

Have you ever seen “The King's Speech”? This place is British. If you see this, you can learn some things; places and British culture and British accent and traditional foods things. It is important for us to watch a movie about British because we can learn many things for just watching so it’s a kind of a trip for learning there.

What is the place I’d like to visit in UK? The place is Edinburgh in Scotland. Why? So I’d like to see idyllic town. I don’t like developed cities which are its boring and I maybe will not feel calm there. In fact, I want to have a relationship with people of an idyllic town. I want to spend slowly with the lapse of time.

Finally, I’m going to go to America and Canada from summer and the overseas education is my dream. I have to learn these countries and I have to convey Japanese of good things or traditional or cultures. I want to go to British in the future and convey Japanese!

My hometown

My hometown is Shisui. Do you know Shisui? Not many people know Shisui because it is very rural there. First, if you go to Shisui by car, you have to take Route 3 for Kikuchi and go straight down it for a long time. Shisui is near Kukuchi and is part of the Kikuchi township, together with Koushi and Kyokushi. You can get to Shisui by bus or train, but if you go to Shisui by the train, you have to transfer to a bass because the terminus of the train is Koushi.

Let me tell you about some aspects of my hometown. Almost all of landscape is rice paddies. If you go to Shisui, you will know Shisui is rustic. I think it is good for your eyes. Shishui produces one of the largest amounts of rice in Kumamoto prefecture, and I’m sure that the crop of Shisui is the backbone of Kumamoto people. When you eat rice in Kumamoto, it is the rice of Shisui.

Also, Shisui had a commercial avenue but the commercial avenue disappeared because no one went there. Now Shisui has two supermarkets and two convenience stores. The back of my house is like a forest. Shisui is full of nature. I like it there. I like a modern city like downtown Kumamoto but Shisui is idyllic and the people are very kind. The reasons are important for me.

Maybe you have heard of Confucius and Shisui has “Confucius Park”. The Japanese name of Shisui is “泗水”. This is the name of hometown of Confucius. There are some connections between Shisui and Confucius, so my hometown has “Confucius Park”. I do not know about the park in detail. When I have free time, I want to research about “Confucius Park” started. For example, what was the bridge between Shisui and Confucius? I intend to research until before going to America and Canada because I want to tell them about my hometown.

My treasure

My treasure is my bass guitar. The body of the bass guitar is red and the back is the same color. Also the head of my bass is the same shade of red and the Pick-up guard is black. My bass looks like a jazz bass but it has a new system for sounding cool. What is that? The new system is the way of changing tone of the bass. Almost all jazz basses have 2 pick-ups for picking up the bass sound. But my bass has 3 pick-ups to capture the sound more clearly and powerfully. This bass has 2 tones and the tone knobs are “bass” and “treble” and 3 knobs are to change volume level of the three pick-ups.

Do you know what my bass is made of? It is made of Ash! Ash makes the coolest sound in woods. The fingerboard is Maple. Maple makes the bass sound bright. Ash makes bass sound wild like a 70’s jazz bass sound.

Why did I buy it? Of course, I wanted to buy it before because this was the model of my favorite bassist. I used to have 3 basses but now I have two. I still have a Fender bass and I sold my Japanese bass and had Contrabass. I bought this Atelier Z 1 year ago. I was not satisfied with the Japanese bass because even though the Japanese bass was expensive, the sound was not cool. So I decided to buy this bass.

I played in many live performances, with this bass. I played in live houses in Kumamoto and Fukuoka. I use this bass every mouth when I play. Recently I am not playing my bass as much because learning English is more important than playing bass. I am losing my edge for playing bass. I sometime have to practice not to lose my edge.

In conclusion, I am always happy that I bought this bass. I feel so much better when I play this bass. This is my treasure and my friend forever. But I have to pay off the loan until next year. But this is not forever and next year.

advice to kohai

Welcome to KGU!! I am so happy you choice come here. You are kind of an adult now and being an adult has the meaning of “independence”. No one will say to you “study” or “practice”.  You have to study and get a chance by yourself. It is hard if you do not prepare. However, you absolutely get a chance or good experiences if you carry on doing something. Continuing to believe in yourself is very important for you. So let me give you some advices.

What should you study for growing in your ability from now? This is a complicated problem for learners. You are in the department of English. You may have some trouble for studying English. I was such a person. When I entered this university, I hated English because I was not able to listen to many phrases in English. Moreover, I did not understand what teachers said in English. The situation was bad for me. So I used tools and different way of studying. For example, I listened to YouTube and Podcast and Music. I listened to easy phrases first. Also I watched some beginner’s lectures of English grammar and pronunciation and so on with YouTube. My recent recommendation is NHK world news. This is easier than foreign world news. You will be able to listen easily and learn about Japanese affairs. In conclusion, you should study listening because sound is really important for learning language.

Where do you buy lunch on campus? This campus has some lunch places. For example, there is LAWSON or the cafeteria or the bakery. Where is the most expensive lunch place? The answer is absolutely LAWSON. If you buy lunch and something to drink, it costs about 600 yen. It is expensive to buy at LAWSON. My advice is check out the cafeteria’s lunch menus. Lunch menus have rice and soup and salad an entrée. This menu is about 350~380 yen. This is very cheap for us. You will be full if you eat the cafeteria’s lunch.

I always go to KGU library on weekdays but I never meet kouhai there. If you utilize the library, you will be a good person. I want you to read magazines and newspaper for understanding the world. Understanding world affairs is one tool and knowledge for speaking with someone. Also you can watch DVDs or foreign dramas and movies. These are free. KGU library has about 1.000,000 books. This is an amazing things. You can borrow books which you are interested in. So please utilize KGU library!!
