Where

 

  This is a sign in a train of Kumamoto. If you take JR in Kumamoto, you will find.

 

How mistake?

Please focus on “refrain taking on the phone”. This phase is not correct. This phase need “from”. So, a correct phase is “refrain from talking on the phone”.

 

A correct sentence

  “Please set your mobile phone to silent mode and refrain from taking on the phone.”

 

A problem

  This sentence is too long, you know. This sentence written by Japanese people is long and I think this sentence should be short because simple is best for conveying a meaning. In fact, this sentence is too polite. Japanese sign is many explanations. Especially signs written in English are too much.

 

  In conclusion, this case was grammar problem and a content of this sentence problem. I am happy to find mistakes. Be careful when you take a train and please don’t use iPhone!
